A contemplative, cinematic poem set in a quiet coastal town - written in vivid, reflective language that explores the many lives we could have lived and the alternate versions of ourselves drifting just beyond reach.
It captures the mystery of “what if,” the pull of unrealized paths, and the haunting beauty of seeing another you out on the horizon.
Perfect for: lovers of introspective poetry, fans of multiverse or alternate-life themes, and anyone drawn to coastal, atmospheric writing.

"a version of me, off in the distance
I dream of being on a coastal land
listening to the birds singing and swaying along,
basking in their freedom they love to boast about.
they are not confined to one area
they are not confined to one location
they are certainly not confined to one life.
they live many lives, over and over again.
going from one place to another,
being one character this moment,
someone entirely different the next.
I dream of being on a coastal land
watching the fishermen rise at dusk;
darkness painted over the light,
prolonging its stay;
preparing the bait, inspecting the vessel-
their fellow comrade who sees to their safety
and shares with them the many mysteries that take place
over the endless depths of blues.
I dream of being on a coastal land
in a state of reverie
in my 1800s home, that creaks a little too much
with paint a little too chipped
walls that are weighed down in rumination
bay windows that overlook the multi-colored leaves,
aimlessly falling in their melancholy.
blithely wandering the halls,
in silk and lace chiffon, coffee in hand,
musing over a tiny black spider
slowly crawling its way up the frame,
to find its new venture or its new victim.
i shall make a cozy home for you.
i shall leave this spec of dust, just for you.
off you go
off the birds go
off the fishermen go
I shall be here when you return."
