      "a collison

early morning comes and i’m in awe

the sun stretches into soft shades of

      pinks, yellows and oranges

the birds awake joyfully, full of hope

      for what’s in store

and the serenity of this moment encapsulates me.

you sit me on your lap and you feed me.

you bring the spoon to my mouth,

your gaze fixated on me intently, adoringly.

you brush my lip with your thumb and i fall

      and i fall

      into your eyes

      into your expression

      into you.

you watch the cereal descend slowly,

leading you to feed me once more

resting your thick palm against my throat.

i’m reaching the stars as i’m lifted as easily as a rag doll

laid down on the table like a china doll

and you promise me your entire heart

      your entire world

      cause i’m your little girl.

and now i know the conversations

you’ve been having with the birds

and why they sing so joyfully, so hopefully.

i too am quite joyful, quite hopeful."
